In honor of Hunger Awareness Month, we invite you to join us in the effort to end hunger in our community—especially for our youth. This year, whether kids are learning from home or at school, the need for food support remains the same. While the local schools often provide free or reduced-cost lunches and breakfast, students have little to no options for free or reduced-cost meals for out of school time.
Our NIBBLES: The Nutrition in Backpacks before Little One’s Exit School (NIBBLES) program provides weekend meals and snacks during the school year for 257 children from low-income families at Lost Pines Elementary, Red Rock Elementary, Emile Elementary, Cedar Creek Elementary, Cedar Creek Intermediate, and Bastrop Intermediate schools. With 1 in 4 Bastrop County children going hungry, we are serving just the tip of the iceberg. We want to serve more of the thousands of hungry children, but we need your help. Please consider investing in the future of Bastrop County youth by planting the seeds that will lead to a plentiful harvest.
