It was another banner event! The 15th Annual Empty Bowl Project definitely “hit the spot” …with around 700 attendees savoring soups, stews and chilis—27 of them! —served up by 18 of the county’s best restaurants and caterers.
While our attendees clearly think each year’s offerings are terrific (and we agree), our “seasoned” judges are finding the choice of “bests” getting more and more difficult as all our providers bring new energy and creativity to the challenge. Honors go to all our providers!
The Pantry simply could not offer this event—and certainly not an event of this caliber or following—without the commitment, generosity and talent you and our other participating restaurants and caterers bring to it. And without such a successful annual event, we would be very hard pressed to sustain the level of services and the lifeline that the Food Pantry provides to the thousands of Bastrop County residents—more than one in seven—struggling in poverty and the thousands more only a small setback away from it. Due to the success of this event, along with your help the pantry will be able to purchase 200,000 pounds of food and provide 160,000 meals to residents of Bastrop County.
From the bottom of our hearts, the Pantry appreciates your enduring support and involvement.
