About Us

The Bastrop County Emergency Food Pantry & Support Center recognizes that crises do happen and that families run out of food because they run out of money. We understand that some families may one day face the agonizing choice of either buying food or paying their utility bills.  Jewell Hodges established the Pantry in the fall of 1987 in response to the growing, urgent need to provide emergency food countywide to those who, for one reason or another, find themselves in a crisis.

Our Food Pantry is committed to more than just supplying food to feed families. Our varied support programs are designed to provide counseling, advocacy, education on managing resources and referrals to other area agencies for additional help in job training, literacy etc. We continually evaluate the needs of low-income persons in Bastrop County and develop new programs, in cooperation with other local agencies, to meet these identified areas of concern.

The Bastrop County Emergency Food Pantry & Support Center’s many years of dedicated service to the community have earned a respectable reputation, as the place where residents can turn in times of a food crisis.
